The 12 Best Things to Do in Woodland Hills

8 min read · Updated August 29, 2026

Woodland Hills sits in the southwest corner of the San Fernando Valley, and it's one of the most consistently underestimated pockets of Los Angeles. Most visitors treat it as the stretch of the 101 between the Valley and the Westside. That's a mistake — the city has a genuinely walkable regional mall, hiking trails climbing toward Mulholland, a working farm at Pierce College, and a restaurant row on Ventura Boulevard that Valley locals will argue is the best in LA. Here's what's actually worth your time.

1. Walk Westfield Topanga and The Village

One of the largest shopping destinations in Los Angeles, split across two connected open-air and enclosed sections. The Village side is the better one for an afternoon — string lights, outdoor seating, and Topanga Social, the food hall, anchoring the far end.

2. Eat through Topanga Social

A dozen-plus counters under one roof at The Village at Topanga — everything from wood-fired pizza to Asian street food to natural wine. It's the easiest way to sample a lot of the Valley's food scene in one sitting.

3. Warner Center Park

Open lawns, a lake, walking paths and shade trees in the middle of Warner Center's office towers. In summer it hosts a free evening concert series that draws families from across the Valley.

4. Pierce College and the working farm

A genuine working farm and equestrian center inside the city limits — cows, horses, a farm store selling eggs and produce, and open green space that feels far more rural than its zip code suggests.

5. Drive Mulholland Drive at sunset

The ridge road above Woodland Hills has pullouts with sweeping views over the Valley floor to the north and, on clear evenings, glimpses toward the Westside to the south. Best right before sunset.

6. Top of Topanga Overlook

A small roadside park along Topanga Canyon Blvd with a genuinely dramatic view down the canyon toward the ocean haze. Worth the five-minute pullover on the way to or from Malibu.

7. Drive Topanga Canyon Blvd to Malibu

One of the best short drives in Los Angeles — SR-27 winds down through Topanga State Park and Topanga village before hitting the Pacific Coast Highway. About 25 minutes from Woodland Hills to the sand.

8. Serrania Park

A quiet neighborhood park with a rose garden, walking paths and mature trees — the kind of spot locals use for a slow lap rather than a workout.

9. Eat down Ventura Boulevard

The restaurant row running through Woodland Hills has one of the densest concentrations of independent kitchens in the Valley — sushi counters, steakhouses, taco stands and everything in between, mostly in strip-mall storefronts that don't look like much from the parking lot.

10. Warner Ranch Park and the Metro G Line busway

Warner Center's transit hub connects the neighborhood to the rest of the Valley via the Metro G Line busway, with Warner Ranch Park nearby for a picnic before or after a ride.

11. Golf at El Caballero or Woodland Hills Country Club

Two of the Valley's classic private clubs sit inside city limits, giving the hillside streets around them a leafy, established feel even if you're just driving past.

12. Shoup Park

Tucked toward the canyon side of the city, shaded and calm — a good stop on the way toward Topanga if you want a short walk before the drive down to the coast.

The short version

Do the mall and food hall midday, Pierce College or a park in the morning, and the canyon drive toward Malibu in the late afternoon. That order matches the traffic and the light.
